Corporate Social Responsibility

There is a strong business case for Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR, in that corporations benefit in many ways by operating with a more holistic perspective than their own immediate, short-term profits.

CSR helps organisations create lasting value through responsible business strategies and productive stakeholder relationships.

It has been defined by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development as “the continuing commitment by companies to behave ethically and to contribute to economic development, while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families, as well as the local community and society at large.”

The term CSR is most commonly used to describe a company’s commitment to operating in a way that takes into account not only the financial implications of business decisions, but also the social and environmental impact it has on the community.
